An avid Boston sports fan, Laidlaw executive James (Jimmy) Ahern follows teams such as the Patriots, Red Sox, and Celtics. Led by Kyrie Irving, the NBA team has been in “survival” mode over the first half of the 2017-18 season, as they faced a grueling schedule of 39 games in just 73 days.

In December, this took its toll as a half dozen players, including Irving, took games off for a variety of reasons. Despite this, the team got into an unbeatable groove and achieved 29 victories, the most league wide. Coach Brad Stevens credited the relentless schedule with having a silver lining effect of enabling his team to come together and “communicate at a high level.” On December 29th, the team displayed its mettle by coming back from a 26 point first-half deficit against James Harden and the Houston Rockets to eke out a shorthanded 99-98 victory.

The second half of the season promises to be much smoother sailing for the Celtics, with the last 43 games spread over a leisurely 104 days.
